Traveling has always been stressful. Whether you only need to travel a couple of miles from home to work, or you go to another hemisphere for your holidays, the stress related to traveling can change the process in a never ending nightmare. If you are to really enjoy your holidays and keep your stress level down, you need to do a few things first. Two best ways to minimize your stress while driving to work are: making sure you have some time in reserve and listening to the radio (or to the music you like) while driving. Soothing music and the knowledge that you are not in danger of being late to work can do wonders. Of course if you neglect that, your stress will return in no time.Another common stressful situation while traveling is traveling with children. They can be a real nuisance, especially during long drives. Coping with that is a bit more troublesome, yet it is still quite easy if you think about it a bit. The best solution is to travel at night whenever possible - children will be sleeping. If that's impossible, make sure that children have something to do while traveling so they don't become troublesome. Video games or DVDs are the best solutions, but books, board games or music (only if you like it, too!) can also work. The last tip: your reactions influence your stress level. If you act calmly and patiently, your stress level will go down. If you during the same situation yell, it will skyrocket even though it was initially quite low. Remember that staying in a jam is an excellent way to relax a bit, not to get stressed. Your kids won't stop screaming if you scream back and the line to a bridge won't become even a bit faster if you get furious about it. The bottom line is: stay calm whatever happens and try to relax every time you can. This will let you get rid of your stress while driving.
